What’s the single most effective tool a mediator can use to market? An audience member asked me this when I keynoted the annual conference of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators back in November.
The good news in my answer is that seasoned and well-trained mediators already have this tool and know how to use it well. And even more good news: Use this tool frequently and it will change your mediation marketing for the better.
It will change your mediation marketing because when you listen deeply and carefully to your market, you learn a great deal about what’s important to them. Their best hopes. Their worries and fears. The kind of help they really want during conflict. What speaks to them. What doesn’t. Where they go, what they read, who they trust. Then you know how to reach and help them, in ways you didn’t before.
BTW, I’ve had this image in my files for a couple of decades and no longer have the original source. If you know it, please do let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.

Well put, and on the mark, Tammy, as always.
Can I borrow that image for my work? It is perfect.
Thanks!
Be well,
Stuart

Hi
You are talking about "listen deeply and carefully" but can you be more specific on how . Do you mean listening at the actual meeting or you`ve also experienced listening through social media.?
Thanks
Gila Gideon-Israel
Hi, Gila –
In the marketing context, I mean listening very carefully to what your market wants and what is worth it to them (I talk about this quite a bit in my book). There are many channels in which to do that listening — when you're connecting in person with your market and in online platforms, such as social media.
